We are deprecating support for Python 3.6 for the usd-core PyPI package as of the upcoming 24.08 release. After 24.08, the usd-core PyPI package will no longer support for Python 3.6.
Support is being deprecated and removed in anticipation of moving from Azure Pipelines to GitHub Actions for CI and PyPI package builds in an upcoming release. The runners available to us via GitHub Actions do not uniformly support Python 3.6; given that we’re 2.5 years past Python 3.6’s end-of-life date we’ve opted to just drop support instead of spending the time to restore it.
