Maya : hide usd hierarchy in outliner

Hello, I’m new to USD and I’d like to know if it’s possible to have the USD as a transform and a shape only? For example, to prevent the foliage of a tree from being moved independently of its trunk. Also, is it possible to select the shape or the transform in the viewport? That would make it easier to create tools based on the selection.
