We are beginning internal QA tests for the upcoming OpenUSD v25.08 release and have formally labeled the code being tested with the v25.08-alpha tag on GitHub.
We are tentatively aiming to complete internal QA tests this week. Assuming all goes well, the v25.08 release candidate is tentatively scheduled to be published next Monday, July 14th, and the official v25.08 release scheduled the week after that.
In the past, we had only published and announced release candidates for testing, with a one week period for folks to test against their own code. We are introducing the alpha tag to expand that testing window, which will hopefully help us identify more issues before the release.
Please let me know if there are any questions, thanks!
Sorry, no, that issue was not addressed in the 25.08 release. I’ve bumped this on our internal triage to see whether this is something we’ll be able to get to in the next release.
We’ve updated the v25.08-alpha tag to include a few more commits that address build and documentation issues we’ve discovered or have been reported to us. Internal QA testing is ongoing, we now anticipate this will be completed by the end of the week. We’ll keep everyone posted – thanks!
Hi Sunya,
I tried a few legacy MaterialX 1.38 scenes in 25.08-alpha to make sure they worked fine and was able to discover an issue with swizzle nodes and HdStorm. See Pixar issue 3738.
Is there still time left to fix this for 25.08?

Thank you for all the feedback and testing during the alpha period! We’ve just pushed out the release candidate for 25.08, so I’m going to close this thread in favor of OpenUSD v25.08 release candidate available on GitHub.
