Explore OpenUSD at GTC and GDC 2024

At NVIDIA GTC — March 18–21, happening in San Jose, CA and online — there is a Universal Scene Description, aka OpenUSD, offering for everyone. Here are the Alliance’s top event recommendations featuring AOUSD members:

  • Watch an OpenUSD Experts Panel: Join members of AOUSD — Pixar, Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, and NVIDIA — as they discuss what their teams are doing to contribute to the evolution of the framework as an industry standard for 3D on March 18 at 10:00 a.m. PT.

  • Attend OpenUSD Day: Get access to a full day of OpenUSD-focused sessions featuring those led by Adobe, Autodesk, Cesium, NVIDIA, and Siemens. Join us on March 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PT.

  • Take Part in OpenUSD Training Labs: Looking for hands-on OpenUSD training? From experts looking for assistance in building OpenUSD-based applications to novices just looking to learn the fundamentals, there is a lab for you during March 18–21.

As part of the AOUSD community, you are able to take advantage of an exclusive promotional offer — 40% off any GTC pass, with the code GTC24AO. Take advantage of this benefit and register here!

The Game Developers Conference (GDC) is also coming up around the same time, March 18–22, in San Francisco, California. Be sure to check out the following OpenUSD-focused sessions at GDC:

  • Modernizing Games with NVIDIA RTX Remix and Generative AI: Discover how NVIDIA created a next-level modding platform for creators with RTX Remix, allowing modders to capture game scenes into OpenUSD format, making them easy to manipulate. Check out the presentation on March 20 at 10:30 a.m. PT.

  • The Universal Scene Description (USD) Roundtable: In this session, attendees can gather to talk about Universal Scene Description. Come meet, discuss, and find out what everyone has been doing with USD on March 22 at 1:30 p.m. PT.

I would also highly recommend attending the AOUSD steering committee panel — featuring Pixar, Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, and NVIDIA — on Monday, discussing the potential of OpenUSD.

If that’s not enough OpenUSD for you, we have a full day of sessions on Tuesday, March 19. Be part of the first GTC OpenUSD Day (FYI: every session you attend in person counts as an entry toward a RTX 4080 GPU signed by NVIDIA founder and CEO, Jensen Huang).
