## [26.08] - 2026-07-20

We anticipate moving to the 
[VFX Reference Platform CY2025](https://vfxplatform.com) in the next release of 
OpenUSD.

### Build

- Deprecated support for Python 3.9 and 3.10

- Increased minimum CMake version to 3.27
  (PR: [#4111](https://github.com/PixarAnimationStudios/OpenUSD/pull/4111))

- Python modules are now installed under `lib/pythonX.Y/site-packages` on Linux 
  and MacOS and `Lib/site-packages` on Windows by default. This location can be
  customized via the `--python-install-dir` argument in build_usd.py or 
  `PXR_PYTHON_INSTALL_DIR` when running cmake.
