We hosted a webinar recently to share some insights into USD at Autodesk. I’m sure most of the folks here are well aware of the power of USD, but the world at large is still in the early stages of the USD journey. If interested in seeing a live demo of using USD in Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini and Unreal in a collaborative environment you can watch the webinar recording here:
Question, how did you manage to push the changes to the variants to the USD file from within 3ds Max (under the edit prims rollout)? Was that functionality one of your plugins/scripts?
If you mean swapping the current variant, that is now part of Max USD in the USD Explorer right-click menu of a prim. If you meant the options in the command panel for changing variants, that is indeed a custom toolkit that I intend to release for the public in the near future. If you mean the tools to generate and create USD Components with Variants, that is also part of the toolset mentioned. I will post here when I get around to posting it online.
